Blessing Bags Brigade of Michigan was founded by Gregg and Sharon Monbleau, inspired by a calling from the Lord to bring comfort, hope and love to individuals experiencing homelessness.
The journey began in the fall of 2015, when Gregg and Sharon started assembling and distributing hygiene bags through in Detroit's Cass Corridor. What started as a small initiative quickly grew into a mission with a profound impact.
Recognizing the critical need for a dedicated hygiene ministry, the Monbleaus have partnered with Lutz School to assemble the bags, and many other organizations throughout Metro Detroit to distribute the bags. Today, we have expanded our efforts and now provide over 9,000 hygiene bags and 10,000 Bombas socks each year to those in need.
In partnership with The Wave Project, our organization helped establish 24/7 accessible hygiene pantries. These pantries, currently located at five sites in Macomb and Wayne Counties, provide free hygiene products to anyone in need, with plans to expand to even more locations.
Blessing Bags is also addressing student needs by collaborating with Macomb County Schools to combat chronic absenteeism linked to hygiene challenges. Through this partnership, students receive hygiene bags to support their well-being and education. Additionally, hygiene bags have been placed in Macomb County Libraries to provide free access to those in need.
At Blessing Bags Brigade, our mission is clear: to offer essential hygiene products in order to promote health, dignity, and wholeness for those in need. We are committed to expanding our reach and continuing to serve with compassion and care.
