Blessing Bags Brigade of Michigan was founded by Gregg and Sharon Monbleau, whose Christian faith inspired them to offer comfort, hope, and love to individuals experiencing homelessness.
The journey began in the fall of 2015 when Gregg and Sharon began assembling and distributing hygiene bags in Detroit's Cass Corridor. What started as a small, heartfelt initiative quickly grew into a mission with a deep, lasting impact.
Understanding the critical need for a dedicated hygiene ministry, the Monbleaus partnered with Lutz School to assemble the bags and collaborated with numerous organizations (including schools) across Metro Detroit for distribution. Today, their efforts have expanded to provide over 9,000 hygiene bags and 10,000 Bombas socks each year to those in need.
In partnership with The Wave Project, Blessing Bags Brigade helped establish 24/7 accessible hygiene pantries, now available at 15 locations in Macomb and Wayne Counties. These pantries provide free hygiene products to anyone in need, with plans for further expansion.
Blessing Bags Brigade is also addressing hygiene poverty in our community by placing totes filled with hygiene bags in six libraries across Macomb County—with plans to expand to all 21 locations. By partnering with local libraries—safe, welcoming spaces that connect people to vital resources—we’re able to reach more individuals and help them maintain their health and dignity.
